Review Ratings Scale Explanation –

Of course, these are all sujective reviews based upon my own opinions, preferences and experiences. The books that I review will be rated as follow:

  • 100-85: A – Excellent Book = Fantastic Read. I loved this book. Pardon me while I gush. Very engaging and entertaining. I was captivated from word one. I will be looking this author’s backlist up.
  •    84-75: B – Very Good =  Pretty Damn Good Book but something was missing/off for me. I liked it but I didn’t love it.
  •    75-65: C – Good = Average read and I could find some entertainment in it. Nothing is particularly wrong but the book and me didn’t jive. I would probably buy this book used.
  •    64-50: D – Acceptable = This book was just okay. I would probably read it again if I was bored. I would probably take it out of the library instead of buying it.
  •    49-30: E – Weak = Severely flawed.  It took a bit to get into but wasn’t bad once I was able to see past the initial flaws. The style and voice didn’t really suit me.
  •      29-0: F – Very Weak = I had major problems with this book. It took a long time to get into the story and plot and I never really did. This book did not engage me at all. In my opinion, it was a bit boring and flat. I found it dry and unappealing. I would not recomment this book.
  •      I/DNF = Incomplete. I could not finish this book. A true wall-banger. This is one of those how did it get published books for me.

Reread – Whether or not I would reread the book cover to cover.

  • Yes – This could be a new favorite.
  • No – I would probably give this away to the library or a used book store.
  • Maybe – I would reread the book but only skim it.

Heat Index – How hot, sexy and erotic is it.

  • 1 – No sex what so ever or very mild, vanilla sex. All the action takes place behind the bedroom door of page. If my grandmother picked up this book she wouldn’t be offended.
  • 3 – Sex happens on the page but it doesn’t get hot and heavy. There are no erotic or graphic descriptions or very flowery descriptions.
  • 5 – Erotic love scenes but they’re on the mild side with only some explicit and graphic language. My grandmother couldn’t handle these if she picked this book up.
  • + 10 – Extremely erotic and explicit scenes that take place on page. Graphic language, extreme kink, “taboo” sex as seen by “society”. May include positions which would require hospitalization if done or attempted by real people. Not for the faint of heart.

Time – How long it took me to read the book.

  • Weekend read – 2 days
  • Long weekend – 3 days
  • Work week – 4 to 5 days
  • DNF – Did not finish

Isabel Asher and Rafael Cruz had an unfulfilled island fling in their youth and made a pact to meet again twelve years later on their mutual thirtieth birthday at sunset.

Isabel shows up on the island of Isla de Margarita off the coast of Venezuela unsure of what to expect or if Rafael even remembers her or their promise to each other.

He does. And the romance picks up where they left off almost immediately because the connection they felt when they were eighteen is still there. Catching up on their lives, Rafael discovers Isabel is divorced while he’s never married. Their reunion is intimate, special and you will definite root for Isabel and Rafael to get together both romantically and physically.

The tension, apprehension and anticipation between them individually and as a couple is felt and wonderfully depicted throughout the story from the first meeting to their first time together as well as the delicious ending. The passion between these two is heated, intense and remarkable. The sex scenes sizzle and burn up the pages and you will be fanning yourself from the spontaneous combustion that results when these two meet sexually.

Beautiful imagery painted with lyrical words that will transport you into the story and drown out all outside noise and distractions. You will get lost in this story and the wonderful picture it paints of the heroine, hero and their love.

Isle of Desire is a quick, enjoyable read, which will have you looking up Eden Bradley to buy more of her work. I will definitely be buying more from Ms Eden Bradley.
